Most Common Reasons Why Cars Fail Weigh-In Inspection
Putting weights on the BOTTOM of the car.
This will cause the car to drag on the track, causing you to loose. If you want to put the weights on the bottom of the car, then you must inset the weights into the car, so that the bottom is smooth, and maintains the same wheel clearance. Or, put the weights on another part of the car, just as long as you don't exceed the length or width dimensions specified in the rules.
Weight of MORE than 5.00 Ounces.
A car heavier than 5 ounces is over the limit, and will NOT pass inspection. It's best to be just slightly under 5 ounces to avoid last minute drilling out of the car to reduce the weight.
Use of non- official BSA materials,
such as wheels and axles. Using a different axle is absolutely
NOT permitted. You must only use the materials that came in your kit. This includes the wheels, axles and car body itself. NO substitutions. Ask for replacement parts if you lose anything.
Loose parts.
Everything on the car must be attached to the car securely. Driver figures and decorations that are LOOSE are NOT allowed. Using tape to attach stuff may disqualify you, especially at the district championship race.
Using LAST YEARs car:
Sorry, but all cars raced this year must be built new this year!
NOT using the pre-cut slots on the car body to insert the axles.
Cars have failed in the past if the axles are put somewhere else besides in the
pre-cut slots on the car body, as sometimes, this lowers the car, causing it to drag on the track. |
